From the first kilometers, runners will climb the coast of Loubeyrat (4.1 km at 6.3 %), launching a day conducive to escaped. The continuation of the route will alternate tracking ribs and sustained climbs, such as the coast of the Baraque, Charade and Berzet, all classified in 2ᵉ category. The final will be particularly demanding with a series of passes (Guéry, Croix-Morand, Croix Saint-Robert) before a technical descent and the final rise to Mont-Dore (3.3 km at 8 %), ideal for triggering attacks among the leaders. The stage promises movement, differences and perhaps surprises before rest day.

Favorites … or a breakaway
Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates XRG), in yellow and confident, is the logical favorite of this stepd stage for explosive climbers. Without JOAO ALMEIDA To support him, the Slovenian will have to manage with a lessened team, but he has often proven that he knew how to dominate even solo. Jonas Vingegaard (Visma | lease a bike) could wait until the right time to strike, helped by a Matteo Jorgenson in good shape. Remco Evenepoel (Sudal Quick-Step) could also be offensive.
On this July 14, the French will be overrun! Kévin Vauquelin (Arkéa-B&B Hotels), Julian Alaphilippe (Tudor), Romain Grégoire (Groupama-FDJ) or Lenny Martinez (Bahrain Victorious) could animate the race, on a route where the escape has a great chance of victory.
