Barcelona is determined to recruit a new left winger this summer, even if his efforts have been upset in recent weeks.

Nico Williams, who seemed to be intended to join the club at some point, recently refused a transfer for the second consecutive year, which means that the club's sports department returned to square one.

After the refusal of Williams, Barcelona drew up a list of two players: Luis Diaz and Marcus Rashford. The two players are much appreciated, but the sports director Deco prefers the Liverpool player. However, according to recent information, it would be ruled out due to pessimism as to the possibility of concluding an agreement, which is why Rashford is now at the top of the list.

Marcus Rashford expected at Barça

However, Marca revealed that Barcelona still believes that Diaz can be recruited, even if the club is not ready to pay the price currently requested by Liverpool. The discussions between the two clubs will not resume for a while, because the Catalans respect the mourning period of the Premier League champion after the tragic death of Diogo Jota, but they work on an agreement within CAN Barca.

Diaz is the priority, but Rashford is also under study

It will be difficult for Barcelona to recruit Diaz, not only because of the position of Liverpool, but also because Bayern Munich pressure to bring it to Bavaria. Consequently, an agreement for Rashford is also under preparation behind the scenes, which is why other discussions are planned with representatives of the English international.

Thus, Barcelona currently leads the Diaz and Rashford operations head -on, even if it is likely that only one of the two will be able to join the club. The first remains Deco's priority, but it would not be surprising that an agreement is ultimately excluded in the coming weeks, which is why it is wise to work on both fronts.
