A former Parisian house wishes to consider the defeat of PSG against Chelsea this Sunday as a formative stage.

This Sunday, Paris Saint-Germain lost to Chelsea (3-0) in the final of the Club World Cup. A setback that does not overly worry certain observers, like Claude Makelele.

“I am not worried about Paris. When you fall against a good team, it must be said. I think Luis Enrique knows it very well, he will make sure to win the next two cups. (…) It was a good confrontation for Paris, it will allow them to prepare for the coming matches. All the teams will want to beat Paris. But I am not worried, I know that their coach will do the job for that ”said the 2006 world vice-champion.

A springboard to future challenges

For the former Parisian midfielder, this defeat could therefore serve as a springboard for the men of Luis Enrique for the next major deadlines: the UEFA supercup against Tottenham on August 13, and the intercontinental cup scheduled for December 17 against one of the following five teams: CF Cruz Azul (Mexico), Al-Ahli FC (Arabia Saudite), Pyramids FC (Egypt), Auckland City (New Zealand), or the future winner of the Copa Libertadores 2025.

The champions of France and Europe will now benefit from just under three weeks of rest before the recovery. A welcome cut to recharge the batteries before the return to training fixed on August 5.
