Sprinters in the spotlight. After several days on accidental courses, favorable to the Plunters, the runners of the peloton will start from Saint-Méen-le-Grand (Brittany), Saturday July 12, of an 8th stage called upon to reward a sprinter. They will travel 171.4 km from a very flat course, with a single difficulty recorded, that of the Côte de Nuillé-sur-Vicoin (900 m to 3.8%). The arrival, planned in Mayenne, in Laval, should see a sprinter winning, after a massive sprint.
Tim Merlier (Sudal Quick-Step), who has already won the third step at the Photo-Finish, will be a favorite during this plain stage, which will end with a slight false flat rising. The Belgian cyclist should be opposed to the wearer of the green jersey, the Italian Jonathan Milan (Lidl-Trek), who has dominated many intermediate sprints, as well as the Eritrean sprouter Biniam Girmay (Intermarché-Wanty).
