A day to celebrate the successes of Bernard Hinault. The 7th stage of this big loop is disputed, Friday, July 11, on the native lands of the last French winner of the Tour de France, with a departure in Saint-Malo, then a final which will pass and end up with the famous wall of Mûr-de-Bretagne after 197 km of an accidental course with three difficulties.

This route should benefit the best pilnters of the peloton, including Tadej Pogacar, who gave up his yellow jersey to Mathieu Van der Poel, the day after he took him, during the 6th stage won by the Irishman Ben Healy.

What is the profile?

A final which will end with a mythical rise. Absent from the Grande Boucle program since 2021, the Mûr-de-Bretagne (2 km at 6.9%) will once again host the arrival of a Tour stage. A battle between the best sneakers will be expected in this last coast. Before this difficulty, already traveled for the first time by the peloton 15 km from the finish, the runners will have had to climb another coast, at the entrance to the village of Mûr-de-Bretagne (1.6 km at 4.1%).

The peloton will also go through Yffiniac, a commune of birth of the living legend of the Tour, Bernard Hinault. Going through its native lands, the organization of the Tour will pay tribute to the five -time winner of the Grande Loop (1978, 1979, 1981, 1982 et 1985).

What favorites?

We take the same and start again. As during the sixth stage, the Cadors and the Putanchers – Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates XRG), Jonas Vingegaard (Visma -lease A Bike) and Mathieu van der Poel (Alpecin -Deceuninck) in particular – will be out. The Dutchman had also imposed himself during the last coming of the Tour in this legendary coast, in 2021, and will once again want to raise his arms on the line. For his part, the Danish Jonas Vingegaard, double winner of the Grande Boucle (in 2022 and 2023), will have to stay on the wheels of Tadej Pogacar, leader in the general classification and triple winner of the Tour (2020, 2021, 2024), so as not to leave the Slovenian, who already has 1'14 “in advance on him, fly away in the general classification.

On the French side, it will always be necessary to count on Kévin Vauquelin (Akéa B&B Hotels), in great shape on this first week. Julian Alaphilippe (Tudor Pro Cycling), who had clearly displayed his ambitions to win a stage this year, will have a new opportunity on Friday. But again, the three -color chances will especially depend on the behavior of the cadors.
