At the end of the 33 kilometers of time offered on Wednesday around Caen, the Belgian runner dominated the competition. He replaces himself in second place of the General 42 seconds from Tadej Pogacar, the new yellow jersey.
There was no match in Caen. Remco Evenepoel (Sudal Quick-Step) won the time trial of the 5th stage of the Tour de France with 16 seconds ahead of Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates XRG) on Wednesday, July 9. At the end of the 33 rolling kilometers in the Calvados campaign, the world champion and Olympic champion of the discipline took the white jersey and replaced second in the general classification, at 42 “from the Slovenian, which recovers the yellow tunic from Mathieu Van der Poel's shoulders (Alpecin-Deceuninck).
The podium is completed by the French Kévin Vauquelin (Arkéa B & B Hotels, at 59 “of the leader) after his good performance of the day, fifth of the stage just behind the champion of the discipline Bruno Armirail (Decathlon Ag2r La Mondiale).
