Huge favorite, Belgian Remco Evenepoel (Sudal Quick-Step) responded on Wednesday, July 9. On the first individual time trial of the Tour de France 2025, the Olympic champion of the discipline flew over 33 kilometers in the Caen countryside, during the 5th stage. He swallowed the globally flat circuit in 36'42 '' (54 km/h). Behind, Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates XRG) also made a solid solo effort (2nd, +16 ''), allowing it to chew the yellow tunic in Mathieu van der Poel (Alpecin-Deceuninck, 18th, +1'44 “).

For his part, the Danish Jonas Vingegaard (Visma Lease A Bike) suffered (13th, +1'21 ''), losing precious seconds on the new leader in the general classification, his Slovenian rival.
