Zapping Foot National Coupe de France: Calais, Quevilly, El-Biar, … the greatest exploits of the competition

The pill is bitter for Reims. A season started on ambitious bases ended in pain, between relegation in Ligue 2 and final of the French Cup against PSG. This Saturday, Jean-Pierre Caillot broke the silence to try to pick up the songs. Visited head -on by supporters, especially the ultras who had boycotted the go -round dam, the president of the Reims stadium apologized in an interview broadcast by the club's media. “I'm so disappointed for them,” said Caillot. “Among all the disappointments of the season, the one that touched me the most was the public. We had never had so many people in Delaune, and we did not give them this support.”

The manager has not fled his responsibilities. The most exposed face of the club, Caillot recognized the internal dysfunctions, evoking a persistent feverishness in the locker room and a lack of responses on the field at key moments of the season. “I owe them clarification. When we are in court, we swear to tell the truth. I want to do the same: to hide nothing,” he continued. These public apologies mark a turning point in the communication of the club, in a context of increasing distrust. The season was marked by controversial management choices, including the dismissal of Luka Elsner, followed by a short pige of Samba Diawara, also on departure.

A reconstruction already on the move?

Jean-Pierre Caillot nevertheless wanted to reassure the future of the club, ensuring that the Rémois project was not stopped despite the descent. “We have a magnificent club. It is not because we are in Ligue 2 that our project stops. Challenges, we have already noted.” Problem: less than two months from the resumption of the championship, Reims is still without coach. Several names circulate, like that of Karel Geraerts, ex-Schalke 04, which would have made a strong impression during a first interview. Philippe Montanier and Olivier Dall'oglio are also mentioned. But at the moment, no track seems completely complete. While the Ligue 2 season begins on the weekend of August 8, the urgency is real. But in the eyes of the president, there is still time to turn off the fire and relaunch the project.
