The Athletic Club celebrates the renewal of Nico Williams's contract, after a second consecutive attempt by Barcelona to recruit the 22 -year -old.
Los Leones have concluded a new 10 -year contract with Williams, keeping it at the club until 2035.
Williams contacted Barcelona through his agent to inform the Blaugrana that he would be interested in a transfer to Camp Nou. However, after having expressed doubts about their ability to record it, after paying the release clause of 58 million euros, he decided to negotiate a new contract with Athletic.

After the broadcast of a video showing Williams painting “2035” on the now famous wall fresco representing the two brothers, several subsequent actions of Athletic could be perceived as spikes against FC Barcelona. Athletic supporters were unhappy with the open prosecution of Nico Williams by Barcelona.

In addition, Athletic also published a photo of Williams Child with the new recruit Robert Navarro. The latter is an old product of the Masia and wears the Barcelona jersey in the photo, accompanied by the legend “The best host”.
End of the Nico Williams saga?
Williams considerably increased his release clause, and Barcelona, furious at this decision, would have decided to rule out any future transfer for him. Even if other clubs are interested, such as Bayern Munich, it seems that Williams has been committed for some time with the club, unlike the temporary solution of last year.
