Ligue 1 broadcaster during the 2024-2025 season, Dazn paid for the last deadline for his contract. It remains to honor the compensation provided for in the termination of the contract. This corresponds, in all, to 155 million euros.
French football enters a new era, an unprecedented era for a professional league with the creation of its 100% channel (88% in reality with 8 games out of 9) Ligue 1. This was formalized at the start of the week with an offer sold at a price of € 14.99. More information is expected in the coming days, with an extraordinary press conference scheduled for July 10. In the meantime, while doubt hangs over the nest egg which will be amassed by choosing this option, the Professional Football League (LFP) can be satisfied to recover a substantial sum of its break with Dazn, broadcaster of the French championship during the 2024-2025 season.
155 million euros recovered
This is the good news of the week when we talk about television rights: the British platform has, according to information from The teampaid the 70 million euros she owed to French professional football. This amount corresponds to the last milking planned in the Dazn schedule for the 2024-2025 season, the LFP of which feared not to see on the expected date.
In addition to this amount already substantial, 85 million euros will be paid (in different deadlines) for having been able to get out of her distribution contract prematurely (she had to pay 350 million euros for the rights of the Ligue 1 next season). This compensation remains below that which Dazn undertook to invest (110M € over two years) if LFP Média accepted the collaboration proposal for its new channel. It was not the decision that has been made, while French football turns to all distributors, without granting any exclusivity.
