A surprise transfer could bring an unexpected bonus to OM, without any effort. Here's how two million were invited.
As Pablo Longoria tries to scrape the drawer funds to complete his summer transfer window, a boon as sudden as Intéttendent could fall on the office of Marseille President. According to the Brazilian press, a transfer to advanced negotiations would be about to activate a forgotten clause … for the direct benefit of OM. Two million euros, fallen from the sky, provided that the operation materializes in the coming hours.
It was the Globoesport media that revealed it at the end of the day on Tuesday:
Flamengo would be on the way to selling Gerson at Zenit St-Petersburg for 25 million euros. A final agreement is expected Thursday in Rio. This transaction activates a resale clause signed last January during the player's return to Brazil: OM must receive 20 % of the capital gain beyond € 15 million. Simple calculation: Out of the 10 M € of added value, Marseille pockets € 2 million.
A providential bonus for OM and Longoria
This immediate gain could have direct effects on the Marseille transfer window. It could in particular allow OM to complete the offer of € 22 million for defender Medina, to initiate a signature bonus for NDICKA, or to lighten the budget deficit pointed out by the DNCG. At a time when TV rights collapse, each euro counts to stay in the nails of financial fair play.
For its part, Flamengo wants to finalize the case quickly for accounting reasons. The Carioca club seeks to close the fiscal year before June 30, while the Zenit wishes to record Gerson before the start of the new Russian championship campaign. If everything goes as planned, the fax expected at the commandery could do a lot of good.
