After months of crisis around TV rights, the Professional Football League formalized this Tuesday the launch for the 2025-2026 season of a 100% platform dedicated to Ligue 1, to which it will therefore be necessary to subscribe to follow the French championship. Explanations.
This is the start of a new era. A jump into the unknown, too. Entered for months in a crisis around TV rights in the French championship, the Professional Football League has formalized this Tuesday the launch for the 2025-2026 season of a TV and digital platform entirely dedicated to League 1. If many points remain to be clarified, on the production of this channel, the composition of the editorial team (in addition to the commentator Xavier Domergue) or the casting of consultants, Several responses have already been provided by the LFP on specific points.
The program: eight games on nine live and a big magazine in clear on Sunday evening
If we are talking about a 100% Ligue 1 platform, note that 100% of Ligue 1 will not be available live on this platform from the first season, as Nicolas de Tavernost, LFP Media boss, on RMC a few weeks ago. Indeed, Bein Sports remains still holding a match per championship day (on the niche on Saturday at 5 p.m.) against 80 million euros per year.
The League channel will therefore broadcast eight matches out of nine exclusively, from Friday to Sunday (the BeIN match will be broadcast in delayed). Including “the ten most beautiful posters of the season”. On Sunday evening, a big magazine will also be offered – in clear, specifies the LFP – to users.
The price: less than 15 euros per month
It was one of the big challenges of the file of this platform: the price offered to subscribers. While Dazn, championship broadcaster in 2024-2025, had cooled some followers last summer with a fairly high price, which was then revised downwards throughout the season, the LFP decided to bet on a more accessible subscription at the outset: an offer at 14.99 euros per month, with commitment. A one-year commitment, can we imagine.
A price of 9.99 euros for those under 26 had been mentioned behind the scenes in recent weeks. This promotion will be valid on tablets and smartphones, secondly.
Distribution: a platform accessible everywhere … except on Canal+?
In its evening press release, the Professional Football League does not mention any private distributor. Probably because negotiations are still continuing. But what is certain is that the distribution of this platform will not be exclusive to anyone. Understand that we can normally access the channel via most boxes of Internet access providers (Orange, SFR, Bouygues …), via connected TVs, platforms like Dazn, game consoles, as well as OTT, directly on the platform site via a computer or a smartphone. Canal+, after the big cooling of the last days, will however pass its turn.
