For several years, the sale of the OM has been supplying the wildest rumors. Between the names of Saudi investors, Qataris funds and other fantasized billionaires, the subject has become a real sea serpent. But this time, Frank McCourt spoke without detour, in a river interview with the Journal du Dimanche. The American owner wanted to set the record straight on his commitment to OM, and once again denies any desire to sell the Marseille club, despite persistent rumors.
The American owner clarifies his position
“The club is not for sale and you should not give way to any confusion on this,” insisted McCourt. The tone is firm, but the discourse. Because if he dismisses the hypothesis of an outright transfer, the businessman does not exclude cooperation with new investors, provided that these share the same values and that this alliance responds to a precise strategy. “We could cooperate with new investors, but only if there is a strategic reason,” he said. An opening that could relaunch speculation, but in a well -defined framework.
A message intended for supporters … and markets
Through this declaration, Frank McCourt seeks to reassure Marseille supporters, often worried about the future of the club. But also to send a clear signal to any pretenders: OM will not change hands on a simple check. The priority remains the stability of the project, in particular with the arrival of Roberto de Zerbi on the bench and the desire to build a competitive workforce. It remains to be seen whether this firmness strategy will bear fruit in an always boiling environment.
