He was not a favorite, but he was able to create the surprise. The Dutchman Daan Hoole (Lidl-Trek) won the 10th stage of the Giro, a 28.6 km time trial, between Lucca and Pisa, Tuesday, May 20. On a completely flat course (150 m elevation), the test specialist, champion of the Netherlands in 2024, made the difference in the second part of the stage. He signed his first career victory over a big round, at 26 years old.

Among the first runners to set off, Daan Hoole avoided the rain unlike the general's favorites, condemned to be careful on a road that has become slippery. Upon arrival, the runner Lidl-Treck was ahead of British Joshua Tarling (ineos grenadiers), winner of the first Giro (+7 '') and Ethan Hayter (Sudal Quick Step) (+10 ''). The first Frenchman, Dorian Godon (Decathlon Ag2r La Mondiale) finished 18th (+1'16 '').

In the pink jersey race, all the cadors have signed disappointing times due to the degradation of the weather. Despite a fall during the recognition of the course before departure, Primoz Roglic is the one who best shot the game. Arrived 17th, the Slovenian leaps in the ranking by going from the 10th to 5th place. The Mexican Isaac del Toro (UAE Emirates), 37th in the stage, remains leader but sees the gap with his dolphin, Juan Ayuso (UAE Emirates), melt at 25 seconds.
