Esteban Dorr and Florian Bourrassaud qualified for the semi-finals of the World Table Table Championships in Doha this Thursday. As a result, the French delegation is guaranteed to win a first medal. Dorr and Bourrassaud won against the Romanian Ovidiu Ionescu and the Spaniard Alvaro Robles 3-2 (8-11, 11-7, 4-11, 13-11, 11-6) and will offer themselves at least bronze.

If the French already had 16 medals in their history at the world championships, the last, in bronze already, dates back to 1997 and a podium gleaned by Jean-Philippe Gatien and Damien Eloi. As of Friday, Bourrassaud and Dorr could be joined at the charts by Félix and Alexis Lebrun, who will also be aligned in the quarterfinals, against the Swedes Mattias Falck and Kristian Karlsson.
