The 19-year-old from Montpellier, seeded N.1 in this tournament belonging to the third level in the world, easily won three sets to zero (11-7, 11-3, 11-9).
Alexis Lebrun pushed to his limits by Flavien Coton
Manhandled, Alexis Lebrun had to fight and push Coton, 17 years old and great hope of the discipline, to the beautiful after being led 2-0. The two Frenchmen went blow for blow in the fifth set, but it was ultimately the world No.13 who won on his first match point: 3-2 (10-12, 9-11, 11-6, 11-8, 11-9). At the end of the tournament, Alexis Lebrun will join the world Top 10.
Accustomed to meeting each other for several years, the Lebrun brothers faced each other for the last time in March, in the final of the French championships in Levallois-Perret. Félix Lebrun then won in style (4-3) at the end of a tense match to be crowned for the first time in the event. On the WTT circuit, the two brothers have not faced each other since the quarter-final of the WTT Champions in Montpellier in 2024, a tournament ultimately won by Félix Lebrun.
The Muscat tournament is the last on the international circuit before the WTT Finals in Hong Kong, which will be played from December 10 to 14. Three French people, Félix Lebrun, Alexis Lebrun (13th) and Simon Gauzy (18th) – thanks in particular to their results this week – will take part.
