Author of a controlled match, Alexis Lebrun triumphed over Slovenian Darko Jorgic on Saturday evening in the quarter-final of the WTT Champions in Montpellier (4-2). A year after his brother Félix, the eldest of the siblings continues his dream week and is now waiting for the Swede Truls Moregard.
Alexis Lebrun will eventually get used to it. The day after his stunning victory against the Japanese Tomokazu Harimoto, the world number 13 dazzled the audience at the Sud de France Arena on Saturday after a superb match won after six sets against Darko Jorgic (8-11, 12-10, 11-7, 11-5, 6-11, 11-4).
“It was more in control than yesterday, where it was big nonsense. I managed to lead my match well. It's a real step in my journey. Winning the second set did me a lot of good. Quite quickly I managed to get back into it. I managed to get into the match from the 2nd set”, analyzed the Frenchman at the microphone of RMC Sport.
With the public behind him, Alexis Lebrun raised his level of play throughout the match, which he managed to conclude at the end of the sixth round, despite a sluggishness in the fifth set. “We have the best audience in the world. The objective was to benefit. For us French, it’s crazy!”

If the Swede leads 4-3, Alexis Lebrun won their last two duels, during the European Championships in 2024 (4-0) and last year in Montpellier (3-1). “Last year he was in good shape after the Games. He is very fit, his course is beautiful. Truls is one of the best in the world.”
Alexis Lebrun has a dream: to succeed his younger brother Félix, winner last year of this second-ranked tournament in the world, the equivalent of a Masters 1000 in tennis.
