
Winner of Chinese title holder Lin Shidong, world No. 2 (4-2) on Sunday in Beijing, Félix Lebrun brilliantly won his ticket to the final of the WTT China Smash. The Montpellier native is the first Frenchman to reach the final of a Grand Slam in the history of table tennis. A match for history. Frenchman Félix Lebrun, 7th in the world, qualified for the final of the Grand Smash in Beijing, a first, thanks to his victory on Sunday against Chinese world 2 Lin Shidong in six sets (11-6, 11-6, 11-9, 6-11, 7-11, 11-5). This is the first time that a Frenchman has qualified for the final of a Grand Smash, the equivalent of the Grand Slam tournament in tennis.
He had not faced Lin Shidong for almost a year, in the semi-final of the WTT Champions in Montpellier. At the time he easily beat him 4 sets to 0 before winning in the final to become the first Frenchman to win a Champions, a sort of Masters 1000 in tennis.
