The 11th stage of The return offers a demanding course of 167 kilometers around Bilbao, in the heart of the green hills of the Basque Country. Runners will survey short stiff climbs, in a layout reminiscent of Clasica San Sebastian or the Circuit de Getxo. The departure will see the peloton face the Alto de Laukiz, followed by Puerto de San Pelayo, before a hilly portion leading to the Bizkaia Balcón and the Alto de Morga. After the double ascent of the Alto Del Vivero (4.3km at 7.9%) and the Pike Alto (2.1km at 9.2%), key moment of the race, the runners will finish on Bilbao.

Battle between the favorites?
On such a journey, the scenario seems difficult to predict. A breakaway made up of solid backpackers like Jay Vine (UAE Team Emirates XRG), Marco Frigo (Israel-Prime Tech) or Pablo Castrillo (Movistar) could be won. But the route could also make some favorite teams want to put the mess. In this case, the best runners in the general classification as Jonas Vingegaard (Visma | Lease a Bike), JOAO ALMEIDA (UAE Team Emirates XRG) ou Tom Pidcock (Q36.5) could raise their arms to Bilbao.
