A Seixas attack … 80 kilometers from the finish!
This 3rd stage of Tour of the future between Pond-sur-arroux et Chàtillon-sur-Chalaronne, endowed with an unusual course, promised a battle between sprinters, even more after the victory of the breakaway the day before. From the start, five runners detached from the peloton: Carl-Frederik Bévort (Denmark), GARCIA GOMEZ ESTIVEN (Colombia), Patryk Goszczurny (Poland), Cole Kessler (United States) and Ville Merlöv (Suede). The fugitives had more than two minutes ahead before France decides to unbridle the race. Indeed, Paul Seixas, Antoine l'Hote et Victor Loulergue accelerated and left the peloton 77 kilometers from the finish, quickly taking over the leading men. But this attack had the merit of waking up the peloton which set out to accelerate, and the French as well as the leading men were taken up fifteen kilometers further.
Multiple attempts to escape then took place, and 4 runners managed to stand out, including the Danish Carl-Frederik Bévortalready present in the first breakaway. While the peloton seemed to master the gap with the head, it's still Carl- Frederik Bévortdecidedly in great shape this Tuesday, which isolated 30 kilometers from the finish and started an insane raid. Despite all the peloton's efforts, the Danish was untouchable and won this 3rd stage with panache, 12 seconds ahead Noah Hobbs (United Kingdom), winner of the 1st stage, and the Irishman Seth Dunwoody. No change in the general classification, with French Maxime DECOMBLE Always wearing the yellow jersey.
