After the yellow jersey, Pauline Ferrand-Prévôt targets the rainbow jersey. While she had announced that she did not run for the roads on the road on September 27 in Kigali, Rwanda, Pauline Ferrand-Prévôt changed her mind. The winner of the last Tour de France Women is indeed part of the list communicated by the coach of the Bleues, Paul Brousse, for these world championships. Already crowned world road champion in 2014, “PFP” will aim for a second planetary title, after having already won the Tour and Paris-Roubaix for its return on road.
For this, Pauline Ferrand-Prévôt will be able to count on an impressive French team on paper, with Maëva Squiban (double stage winner on the last Tour de France), Evita Muzic, Léa Curinier, the French champion Marie Le Net, Cédrine Kerbaol and Juliette Labous. These last two will also be the two runners aligned with the individual time trial, and will be accompanied by Maëva Squiban on the mixed team time trial.
On August 11, during a press conference at her team headquarters in the Netherlands, Pauline Ferrand-Prévôt had nevertheless announced the opposite: “If I had listened to myself, I would have already left a prep for the World Road Worlds and I would already be at altitude. But in fact, I also need to blow, take advantage to be better in the years to come. It is important to savor and set off a little later on a preparation”. An announcement that had surprised, when the very mountainous journey of these Worlds seemed to be ideally suitable for the qualities of the French.
Especially since the Champenoise will be very well surrounded in Rwanda, including three runners who finished in the top 10 of the last Tour de France (Juliette Labous, Cédrine Kerbaol and Evita Muzic). What aim for a new world title, eleven years after that won in Ponferrada, Spain. This would allow Pauline Ferrand-Prévôt to put on a sixteenth rainbow jersey, after her multi-world titles acquired in mountain biking, but also in Gravel and Cyclo-cross.
