The discussions between Nice and Leverkusen have stumbled for the transfer of French international Jonathan Clauss, forced to stay on the Côte d'Azur.

Jonathan Clauss will not join the ranks of Bayer Leverkusen this summer. The French right side, announced close to a departure from the vice-champion of Germany, saw the Rhine track close in the last hours.

According to the revelations of Kicker This Monday, the case was however well committed. But the financial requirements of the OGC Nice have cooled the Werkself, little inclined to pay a sum deemed excessive for a player whose contract expires in a year.

Leverkusen closes the Clauss file

The German club has therefore chosen to put an end to discussions with the Riviera training. A perfect opportunity to find the Bundesliga in a championship cador vanishes for the former Lensois.

Unless last minute reversal, the Strasbourg should therefore start a second season under the Nice colors. Less than a week before the transfer window closure, a departure now seems highly improbable.
