The new recruit of Rennes, Valentin Rongier, says he has no regrets to have left OM and says he is ready for his reunion with his former club.
This summer, Valentin Rongier left the south-east for northwestern France. After six seasons at Olympique de Marseille, the French midfielder joined the Stade Rennais on July 21, for a transfer valued at 5.5 million euros, to which are added 2 million euros in bonuses.
However, this departure was motivated by a disagreement between the player and the Marseille management. The two camps struggled to find common ground for an extension, while Rongier's contract was to expire in June 2026.
“We will be ready to beat OM”
Asked behind the scenes of his arrival at the Breton club at a press conference, Rongier nevertheless assured that his choice to join the Red and Black had been carefully thought out.
“No, I have no regrets. It was really thought for for weeks. I did not make my decision in two days ”he said.
The Mâconnais will quickly find OM next Friday in Roazhon Park, on the occasion of the first day of the Ligue 1.. A meeting on which the principal concerned is impatient to take part.
“I feel good and the goal is to be ready this weekend. I took a hit before the reception of the Genoa (in friendly on Saturday, 2-2). It's better. The goal is to be ready and we will do everything to make it. Rennes-Marseille had to be the first game in the championship. It's a little wink for Quentin (Merlin) and me. It is an exciting match and we will be ready to beat OM, there is no debate on it ”he concluded.
