Its beginnings on the Tour de France women were sparkling. Pauline Ferrand-Prévôt flew to the climb of Cadoudal and was taken over in the last meters by her own teammate Marianne Vos, winner and first yellow jersey, Saturday July 26. Third on the arrival of this 1st stage in Plumelec, “PFP” raised his arms and celebrated the victory of his team, Visma-Lease A Bike. In the buses of the buses, the Olympic mountain bike champion was still euphoric.
Is it a great day for the collective? And a great introduction to you?
Pauline Ferrand-Prévôt : Yes, Marianne takes the victory and the yellow jersey. It couldn't be better. I am happy with my form. I know it will go up in pressure over the days. I'm pretty good.
How did you live these last meters in the climb of Cadoudal?
I was well in the climb. I said to myself: 'What should I do?'. There was a small gap, so I continued to push. Then I saw Marianne return to the sprint. It was a perfect day for us.
I knew I had attacked a little too early. The plan was for Marianne. Today, we did not necessarily want me to win, but that I stay among the first, that I do not waste time in general. I am very happy with my legs. I can't wait to be tomorrow.
Is it a perfect day?
It's clear. It was an incredible day. You have to take advantage of because on nine days of racing, I don't think we have days like that every day. We knew that the race would be short and fast today. We put ourselves forward to avoid falls and keep energy.
How did you feel this 1st stage of a Tour de France?
It was incredible. I was so concentrated that I didn't really have time to achieve. But I really had fun with the public.
