A second step with iodized accents. At the end of the 110.4 kilometers, the peloton of the Tour de France Women will join Quimper, chief town of Finistère, after having launched himself from Brest, one of the most west points of France. During this hilly stage, Sunday, July 27, the runners will notably cross the city of Châteaulin, renowned for its cycling races. The public should be there to observe the yellow jersey of Marianne Vos (Visma-Lease A Bike), won the day before in Plumelec.
What profile?
After the inaugural stage, the peloton will have several ribs on the menu. The first will stand just after the intermediate sprint of Châteaulin, with Menez Quelerc'h (3 km at 6.2%). Twenty kilometers of dish will be followed before tasting the Côte de Locronan, short but steep (0.8 km at 8.9%).
The runners will then quickly enter the final circuit with the Côte du Chemin de Trohéir (1.1 km at 5.7%) to climb twice, including the last one five kilometers from the finish in Quimper.
What favorites?
The winner of the day will have to “Allier resistance and power”, Assures Marion Rousse, the director of the Tour de France women in her commentary on the stage. For sprinters like Lorena Wiebes to win, they will first have to withstand the bumps. The profile could more correspond to sneakers. Inevitably, the Marianne yellow jersey could again raise their arms, like Lotte Kopecky, or the very young Puck Pieterse, world champion on the road at the under 23 years. The French champion of the time trial Cédrine Kerbaol should also want to be offensive, she who was born in Brest.
