Former FC Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez wishes to maintain his initial project to return to the club in 2026.

The former midfielder has been absent since his departure from the Blaugrana in May 2024, following a controversial end of mandate.

Xavi led Barcelona as the Spanish champion during her first full season at the head of the club in 2022/23, but his last months in Catalonia were marked in the negativity.

The 45 -year -old man expressed his impatience to assume a new role, but a certain frustration persists as for the end of his career in Barcelona.

“I am not in a hurry, but I would like a good project. Like: “You have four years to work and build a project”. I would love to work in the Premier League, I love the passion that reigns there ”he said in an interview with The Athletic. In Spain, the result is too important.

I'm ready to suffer again, but I don't think I will suffer more than in Barça. It was too moving for me because I was also supporting. »»

Xavi wishes a return in 2025

Xavi's words on the Premier League only drew rumors that he could turn to England to take up a challenge and succeed Pep Guardiola if he waits 2027.

Manchester United and Arsenal could be options for him, if the latter goes by Mikel Arteta, if he cannot win a major trophy in 2026.

However, despite the rumors of an early return from Xavi, he will not accept international selection.

Xavi rejects India's surprise offer

The Indian national team is looking for a new coach, after the departure of Manolo Marquez, to focus on club business in Goa.

Xavi's name had been mentioned as a replacement, but this option was firmly rejected by sources close to Diario Sport.

The technical director of the Indian Football Federation, Subrata Paul, would have said that Xavi was interested in the position, but this assertion was denied, for lack of financial means for him and other players. The objectives are on the agenda.
