Former Real Madrid sports player and sports director, Predrag Mijatovic, launched a warning to the Merengues concerning Kylian Mbappé and Vinicius Junior, saying that the love of fans for the Brazilian winger had decreased over the years.
Madrid recruited Mbappé, who was playing at Paris-Germain, last summer as part of a free transfer in order to complete his new generation of galacticos.
Real Madrid has received a warning
Mbappé personally had a memorable first season at the Santiago Bernabeu last season, scoring 44 goals in 59 appearances for Real Madrid for all competitions, but the Frenchman won no national competition and the club was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the Champions League by Arsenal.
Vinicius Junior had a disappointing season in terms of goals, since he has managed to score only 22 times in 58 appearances in all competitions. According to Mijatovic, the sudden decrease in form of the star of the Seleção could have reduced the affection that fans had only a few years ago.
A warning for real stars
Addressing journalists, the former 56 -year -old said:
“When you have to renew the team and look for the new Modrics, Kroos and Casemiro … You cannot redo the team in a single summer. The team is to make several important decisions this summer. If Vinicius, Mbappé or Rodrygo are not happy and do not feel supported by the club, they cannot be efficient. I do not know if supporters love Vinicius as much as two or three years ago, nor if he shows them as much respect as at the time. »»
Mijatovic added about Mbappé: ” I keep repeating it, accumulate great players, with high market value, is always counterproductive. You have an asset that is very worth, but you do not draw the best party. Over the months, the player is not happy and you do not know if you can sell it the following year. »»
Xabi Alonso's team will start the 2025-26 season on August 19 by facing Osasuna at home.
